Born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, Seth Kessel is a traveling songster known as the Brooklyn Troubadour. While having a widespread professional music career in various bands and as a producer/studio engineer with notable success, his focus lies in the interpretation of mid-century American roots music. Particularly 1950’s rock ‘n’ roll, classic country, and jump blues. His richly toned voice, virtuosic guitar playing and powerful songwriting make him a triple threat. His songwriting runs the gamut from clever and witty lyrics to hardships of the past. The result is a raw emotion and honesty that he brings to every tune and performance.

His core band consists of New York City’s most sought after musicians. Joining him on upright bass and drums, his trio works like a well oiled machine. When playing locally, he often uses special guests on violin, horns, piano, accordion or pedal steel. When not touring, Seth Kessel resides in Brooklyn where he plays music full-time. You can catch him playing rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly at local bars; Skinny Dennis and Sunny’s. Conversely, he will be found at private events playing jazz in a suit and tie. He has graced the stage at B.B Kings, Joe’s Pub, The Bell House, Brooklyn Bowl, Rockwood Music Hall, Union Hall among hundreds more venues. He has toured extensively throughout his career as a band leader or as a sideman with Lara Hope & the Ark Tones, Izzy & the Catastrophics, Holy Crow Jazz Band and the Blind Pharoahs. Seth is also a gun for hire playing guitar, voice and bass for jazz, country and rock ‘n’ roll acts throughout the city and surrounding areas. Some bands he plays with are; The Bailsmen, Avalon Jazz Band, Sean Kershaw and the New Jack Ramblers, Jessy Carolina and the Hot Mess, Bill Carney’s Jug Addicts and The Bee’s Knees.
